Luxury Vinyl Plank… What is this relatively new phenomenon in the flooring world?
Luxury Vinyl Plank, or, LVP/LVT, is a water proof plank made out of one of two options. WPC, which is a thicker wood-plastic-composite that is softer and more comfortable to walk on. SPC, is a very dense dent resistant stone-plastic-composite. Both are great options for your home and both have almost identical characteristics. Water proof, unlike the old laminate that lvp has essentially replaced that is merely only water-resistant. It is completely water proof and does not have a time limit for when water can seep into the product and warp or damage the planks. Scratch resistant, with many different brands, colors, and tiers of LVP- the most important part of LVP is the wear layer. Our products have a minimum 20mil wear layer that comes with limited lifetime warranties on the product. We do not install big box store flooring like Lifeproof from Home Depot, as their wear layer is very minimal but they cost the same as our products with a substantially higher quality wear layer.
LVP comes in plank or tile format, in just about any color and grain variation. It is hard to stay away from this product as it is water proof, scratch resistant, low maintenance, cost friendly, and labor friendly. We highly recommend LVP for just about any circumstance… but of course, we are floor guys and will always prefer wood floors at heart… shhhh, don’t tell anyone!
